Amy Arruda, LCSW
The first step is to schedule a consultation.
This is a simple, no-pressure conversation where you can share what’s been going on, ask questions, and get a feel for whether this approach is the right fit for you.
If it feels like a good match, we’ll walk through next steps together.
If you decide to move forward, you’ll schedule your first session and receive access to a secure client portal.
There, you’ll:
- complete intake forms
- review and sign consent documents
- enter any required information privately
This allows us to focus on you during your session — not paperwork.
EMDR is a therapy approach that helps your brain and body process experiences that may still feel “stuck.”
While traditional talk therapy focuses on understanding and discussing your experiences, EMDR works more directly with your nervous system — helping you process and release what’s been held there.
You don’t have to relive everything in detail, and we move at a pace that feels safe.
No.
You don’t need to have everything figured out or share everything all at once.
We go at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and nothing is forced before you’re ready.
Amy works with teens, adults, and individuals navigating:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety and Overwhelm
- ADHD (especially in teens and young adults)
- Depression
- Life Transitions
- Recovery from Unhealthy or Abusive Relationships
If you’re unsure whether this is a good fit, that’s something we can talk through during your consultation.
Yes.
Sessions are available both:
- in person (7 Kent Road, New Milford, CT 06776)
- virtually
We can choose the format that works best for you.
Yes — most major insurance plans are accepted.
If you have questions about your specific coverage, we can go over that together during your consultation.
That’s more common than you might think.
Sometimes therapy focuses on understanding the problem — but doesn’t fully address how it’s stored in the body.
This approach is different.
If something hasn’t shifted yet, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed — it may just mean a different approach is needed.
You don’t have to be completely sure.
If something in you is wondering whether there might be another way to feel better, that’s enough to start a conversation.
The consultation is simply a space to explore that — without pressure.
That's completely okay. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
A simple, no-pressure place to start.
